THE CAPITALISM IN BULGARIA

Author: STOYAN BOCHEV
Sofia, 1998, Bulgarian Science and Culture Foundation

In the collection The Capitalism in Bulgaria there are economical texts and personal memories of Stoyan Bochev, a keen philosopher who summarized the course of the Bulgarian economic reality and who caught the deep philosophy of its development.

In a unique and rarely intelligent way these works of Stoyan Bochev synthesize the problems of the Bulgarian economy by combining the detailed knowledge of the past with the author’s understanding of his contemporary time in all its practical and conceptual dimensions (the period primarily concerned is the 20s and the 30s of the 20th century). Most impressive, however, is the sound of actuality of these economic analyses, which actuality springs out not from superficial analogies but relates to the similarity in the essence of economic behavior, in the understanding of capitalism as a cultural problem facing Bulgaria.

The selection and the scientific editing are done by Rumen Avramov. In his editorial he gives a precise evaluation of the importance of Stoyan Bochev in the Bulgarian economic past.
